Strange fruit & Lowriders join forces Vrijdag 02 juli 2010 23:00 - 3:00 Beat Burger, Rotterdam Bass, Soul, Beats, Funky, de ingrediënten voor de eerste collabo tussen de Strange Fruit crew & de Lowriders crew. Onder de naam Strange Riders organiseren deze twee eigenzinnige Rotterdamse organisaties in de Beat Burger op de Meent een nacht voor op de dansvloer. Even Voorstellen: Crew 1 Lowriders denken niet in muziekstijlen, hypes of iets wat daar op lijkt denkt. De voorkeur gaat uit naar bass en kwaliteit die te vinden is ergens tussen dubstep, beats, funky bass, grime en hip hop in. Deze avond zullen Beatnologic, Ruwedata en Off Hand vertegenwoordigen. Hovatron (live) is Canadees en maakt muziek die ergens ligt tussen crunk, skweee en hip hop. Even voorstellen: Crew 2 De heren Thelonious en Lucky Dubz maken sinds 2005 als Strange Fruit Rotterdam onveilig ook hier staat kwaliteit en avontuur hoog in het vaandel of dat nu house, funk, soul, dubstep of uk funky is. Van Soulfull tot Rauw, hokjes komen niet in het woordenboek van de Strange Fruit Djs voor! Dus block alle andere afspraken voor 2 juli, of neem ze mee naar de Meent voor een gezellig klein feestje! HOVATRON remix pack april 2010

Our man Hovatron (we will be releasing an EP with the master soon) is always pushing his skills with remixes on R&B hits. BD1982

One of the interesting new names from the States is at the moment BD1982. He will release shortly a 12" (digital is already out) of the Suclusiasis called Shotta Pon the Corner/Space Boots. The Shotta Pon the Corner features 77 Klash which mixes dancehall with grime and shopped-up crunky beats. The Space Boots gets remixed by two of our friends Hovatron and Slugabed both heavy on the bumby crunkside of beats. The Starkey remix is one of the most deep tracks I heard for a long time. Dudes this is cool! Our man Hovatron, also be playing at the Raw Rhythm Festival, is releasing from his myspace a limited EP with7 tracks for just $5,-. MEGASOID mixtape

For some time we, as in Lowriders, are totally into those dudes from Montreal. You know Ghislain Poirier and we've posted on the Turbo Crunkers Hovatron and Lunice and you must know about Megasoid by know. I have these mixtapes already sometime on my ear and totally forgot to drop it on the blog. I read that the Megasoid, Speakerbruiser Rob' Squire (in another life known as Sixtoo) and Hadji Bakara (Wolf Parade), are about to release a full album in Ninje Tune somewhere this summer!!! Knowing a bit how things work at the Ninja office it can take as long as fall but we are curious. On the website of Weaponhouse Rob's professional design outfit we can read that it's going to be a hip hop album. HOVATRON is going to be headlining our upcoming Lowriders 9. We found a new post (oh yeah, again....!!!) of a new remix he did (does this guy ever stop working?) HOVATRON has re-edited Land Lines off the amazing upcoming Shadow Dancer on Boys Noize Records. This track is an electro banger as we know it from the current hype but Hovatron slowed it down a bit, chopped up a bunch of parts, threw in that always trustworthy acapella, lezz gooooo.  This is going to be some PARTEE so be prepared, be there! download

Plant er een artiest van onze shortlist een tourtje en heeft deze een gaatje in zijn schema dan doen we ons best om een Lowriders er van te maken. Deze keer dus koud 2 weken na Lowriders 8; net weer in een normaal ritme en dan al een nieuwe editie! WORM was zo aardig zich enigszins aan te passen aan onze grillen en ons te plaatsen in hun REDSOUND festival waarvoor natuurlijk hulde! Hovatron, mystery guest uit Montreal Canada. Heeft een flinke staat van dienst als remixer. Zijn myspace puilt uit van eigenzinnige remixen van Janet Jackson tot aan Nas. Zij stijl: turbocrunk waarmee hij in een directe lijn geplaatst kan worden met zijn maatjes: Megasoid (met oa. Sixtoo (RIP) in de gelederen) maar ook Lunice en die andere Lowww rider Ghislain Poirier. Deze gast rockt met zijn zweterige mix van stijlen waarbij de sleurende, pompende beat en en de energie de hoofd ingrediënten vormen. Rokus is een van de energieke mensen uit de dubstepscene die een bredere muzikale smaak heeft dan de vierkante wobble die de scène op t moment zo kenmerkt. Bij zijn recente Zachte G's Mix zien we een Lowriders waardige sound die genres overschrijdt: van Modeselektor, via Jawat, Qemists naar Santagold met tussenstops in Bangladesh en bij Kalbata in tel Aviv! Marked is de leider van het Zuid-Limburgse dubsteppack dat frequenteert in Roermond (of all places) maar resideert gewoon in roffa. Ook hij weet wat out-of-the-box denken is. Zijn myspace onthult een smaak die van de dubstep makkelijk uitwaaiert naar de meer wonk achtigen (aan die genrenaam moeten we echt iets doen) naar abstracte beats. Daarnaast natuurlijk Lowriders finest: Beatnologic (bekend van zijn Ghettoblaster faam) met een platentas van de Favala's via Baltimore straight to Brooklyn effe oceantje hoppen naar de engelse ghetto tec en dan af naar Angola voor een portie Kudero co2Ro met zijn immer energieke mixcapades die zowel electrobass als rave als dubstep kunnen herbergen (ik bedoel dus in 1 mix). En dan nog lowridersnestor SIMcommander die n plaatje op zal leggen zonder stijlbeperking maar met een voorliefde voor Jah's children.
