LEE ‘scratch’ PERRY on On-U-Sound

The Combination of two heroes Lee Perry and Andrian Sherwood has been a wet dream for ages. One of them entering the dubstep scene was another. And for the last few months it has come true! Lee Perry (He suddenly skips the ‘scratch’) has released 3 records on Adrian Sherwoods On-u-sound label. He is not only producing the records but also, like on Excersising with Horsepower chanting again. His voice like on all of his records in the past tempting, mystifying, sacral almost. Perry’s hand on dubstep is an total new insight on how tracks are built, how deep you can or maybe must go. The intriguing thing is that Perry also goes into a collaboration with Kode9 who has been an admirer of the magician mysticus. I was at the live show of Kode9 earlier this year in Amsterdam which was an expierience from another planet. And after the show we were discussing that it would be great if Kode9 would at some point team-up with Perry or Sherwood, a wish come true! Music is developing with jumps forward but also backwards and this series is the proof that it can be groundbreaking.
