EPROM Never

February 25th 2010 by Yang | Tags: , | Tweet this post

Surefire has expanded its horizons from booking agency to a newly formed record label. Some great forward thinking music to come judging from their first release. Eprom has taken the honor of the kick-off and FaltyDL is on remix duty. Never is very different from what you are used to from this man. He has taken the defining elements of his glitch/wonk/dubstep stompers, merged it all together and added some garage traits in the mix. The result is something very fresh and ‘now’. FaltyDL slowed it down, downpitched the vocals and added his signature shuffles giving his remix this heavy melancholic pressure.

RAMP Recordings guest mix for Kmag

February 19th 2010 by Yang | Tags: , , , , | Tweet this post

Following the Black Acre interview and mix here’s another feature in the same manner. This time it’s the forward thinking RAMP Recordings, which  has had equally or maybe even more exciting releases as Black Acre last year. Milestones of Shortstuff, Hot City, Zomby and a skweee compilation come to mind. Also read the interview about how a young school-skipping teenager came to create a record label.

JOY ORBISON The Shrew EP

February 8th 2010 by SIMcommander | Tags: , , | Tweet this post

The new Joy Orbison is already something to look out for after his debut smash Hyph Mngo. The new one will be released on the famous label AUS Music. The Shrew and So Derobe are from the same wood like his two previous pieces: catchy poppy tunes with tempting uplifting rhythms, perfectly placed voices, heavy pushy basslines. It moves in between styles like garage and funky and pop. This might as well be his total breakthrough.

January 26th 2010 by Yang | Tags: , , , , | Tweet this post

The guys over at Pipedown run a more than excellent blog about all different forms of bass music. They’re going to expand their presence outside of the blogosphere and will be hosting their own party in London. As promo, Cntrst and Sduk both made a mix featuring all the latest hybrid sounds in UK dance music.

Tracklists and downloads after the jump.

FACT Magazine: producers to watch

January 25th 2010 by Yang | Tags: , , , , , , , | Tweet this post

FACT did a great feature on 10 upcoming producers who in their opinion will stand in the spotlights of 2010. Some of our favourites like Illum Sphere, Mosca and Julio Bashmore are featured in the series. Every artist contributed a mini-mix as well as an interview. Check out part one and part two.  Highly recommended to download these mixes.
My personal favorite is grime producer SRC. Think of Joker’s earlier work but influenced by the NES instead of Playstation. The guys from Butterz have been pushing his tracks for a while now on their radioshow so it’s no surprise he’s signed to their new label. The now already prolific Numbers label will also put out an 12″ in the near future.

DEADBOY If U want me

January 24th 2010 by SIMcommander | Tags: , , | Tweet this post

Deadboy surprised us with his debut on well rounded. The mix of UK Funky, dubstep and garage with the rhythms and voices was fresh and now!If U Want Me is somewhere out there in the streets between the garage, funky and house using rave, dubstep as his main influences. This is played many djs like Kode9, Martyn, Sinden, Joy Orbison and Modeselektor.  This will be released on the new formed Numbers label which is built from the ashes of Dress 2 Sweat, Stuffrecords and Wireblock.

SHORTSTUFF xlr8r podcast

One of the hottest names around, also dropped already a few times by us, is Shortstuff. His intriguing mix of dubstep, bassline Uk Funky, house and garage is so urgent it almost hurts.

With his mixtape for xlr8r he points out again how well skilled he is as a selector! Hit the download

Sbtrkt – Right Place

January 10th 2010 by Yang | Tags: , , | Tweet this post

The mysterious Sbtrkt drops a free track for us. He has been getting alot  of buzz lately and rightly so. His tunes are very diverse ranging from techno to house to dubstep. This particular one takes on the wobbly dubstep approach with a lovely garage shuffle and some Radiohead goodness.

Deadboy – TFC mix series vol. 8

January 7th 2010 by Yang | Tags: , , | Tweet this post

Some more goodness from Deadboy after our post we did on his FACT mix. This one he did for Take Flight Club. They have a ton of other great guest mixes on their mixcloud page. I recommend the ones from TOKiMonsta and Doc Daneeka.
