Don't know a whole lot about Mr. Mezzo. His
Soundcloud page says he's from Greenland, which I seriously doubt to say the least and he just released a 10 track, free (always good), digi ep. A gloomy, intergalactic, desolate space ship ride up for grabs on his
Bandcamp. Abstract beats galore.

With this one we might just have reached a max of allowed Pixelord posts, and mixtapes for that matter, but fuck me, this is a gooood tape! A solid 34 minutes of sheer day glo caramel goo and neon shine butter. It all fits perfectly with his own, unique style of beat brewing, so if you're familiar with his tunes you'll know what to expect. Click
here for the zshare linky. Oh, and he didn't give me a tracklist, so you're gonna have to mail him personally to get that info.
Mwëslee is all of a sudden one busy dude. Next to playing at LowridersDropp on May 22nd and just after the mixtape for his label Nod Navigators, he drops the next mix for
Hepcat radio.
He treats us on a wonderful associative browse through music in time and styles.

Again we're listening to the preview online of the new release by
James Blake over and over again. What a delicate sound. His handling of details either samples or voices is so subtle it can bring tears to the eyes.
CMYK is as colorful and funky as the title suggests. Its groove is light and warm as the summer, brought by a massiv push in which the voice samples placed so precise that it gives you the idea that it guides you to the dancefloor.
I'll Stay is as delicate. Here we are treated on this beautiful voices covering this housy funky summer breeze. Two other tracks will be on the EP
Footnotes and
Postpone but for now I'm already happy with these two, let the sunshine warm us too.

Part of the
Funckarma outfit Roel has been involved in many different kinda projects over the last ten years. He has produced techno, electro, IDM, Hip Hop and dubstep (just to name a few). It seems like it was time to stand on his own after being working along with his brother Don.
The record feels familiar, I recognize sounds, layers, structures from the past but in a way it feels also really fresh because I hear much more space between the notes. Ruffly I'm dividing the record into three zones. The more IDM-ish tracks which are as I mentioned before much more open then the recent Funckarma stuff which felt often to heavy to complex to demanding also. Like the opener
Gallice and the very beautiful spacy
Vertox Dreaming. Other tracks are more contemporary, heavy on the bass, dubstep-ish. These are dense. Listening to
Fiction Stub makes you aware of the Big City again, subways, sirens, grains. The pulsing and pounding fundamentals are dominant.
Koortshond is purple with an orange banner. Subtlety with a barking pitbull aside. The third zone is the inbetweens, constructed from both areas often adrift so it seems like in the
Cobaned Banner you'll find your self confused, WTF was this...But then you listen to
Ledge which is also inbetween but so much more controlled, a pure listening experience.
Skarm Sfiais is pure discomfort, dirty voices, high pitched needles, metal flakes. Slowly it shifts into and Predetor kinda nightmare, pure madness. All in all it's a listening experience from a 'new' producer.

Like the
Producer 1 series this also got introduced by a 7inch teas series including ridiculous releases by
Mike Slott/Dabrye, Low Limit/Dibaise, Mono/Poly / Illum Sphere, Devonwho/D-Bridge, all producers within the abstract beats, hip-hop electronics, post IDM/glitch field. The selection gives a state-of-the-art overview of the internationality of the scenes. American, british and European producers are next to each other slightly within their parameters but overall representing a sound and tate of production. Lately we've seen producers using seventies psychedelia which we also represented on the record. Other producers involved are
Carlos Y Gaby, Blackpocket, Tandy Love, and the Brainfeeders
Martyn and
Daedelus.
The whole record is warm, subtle produced with some comforting soul (
mono/poly), stuttering beats (
Low Limit), spacy techno (by
Martyn). Favorite tracks are by
Mike Slott,
Tandy Love (pure instruments with some heavy grain),
Dibaise (supreme beats covered with sample fire on top),
Dabrye (because I love his beats and synth lines), The
Harmonic 313 remix of
Eris Lau (H313's electro sound is superior to almost everything).
