It’s old, I know I know.. But I had the album that features this tune in my ‘best LP’s of 2009′ list. And only just now did I find out there was actually an OFFICIAL video for it. A pretty good one in my opinion, just a shame the youtube quality is shite. Something in there reminds me of Daft Punk though… hmmm, I wonder why.. Prime Skweee joint.
Eversince the second Hollertronix I’ve been collecting them. Some of these exquisite compilers of the mash-up (focusing on Baltimore) got collectible. The producer roster, when mentioned include Diplo, DJ Gold Face, A-Trak, Scotty B, DJ Tameil, Eli Escobar ao. (although a lot of tracks are produced by Hollertronix). All names known from the Bmore scenery. The releases are mostly released by Money Studies, the label connected to the famous Turntable Lab recordshop. Since the Hollertronix #8 they got released by Diplo’s own Mad Decent, which was with DJ Sega (remember the Welcome To Hell logo..!). The #9 was based around Buraka Som Sistema which is a blast and in almost everyones record bag I know. This new one is with dutch crashers PartySquad! If you visit the Mad Decent blog regular base you know they have mentioned and reviewed them for more then a year. This new Hollertonix is mixing of clubby stlye swingbeat, ragga, acidhouse and bangers together into a mad mash-up. download the taster Murderer (Diplo Jayou)

The Simian Mobile Disco is for some time now within the range of my attention. Their normal work is a bit to disco/housy for me but they have a way of finding remixers for the tracks that have me and their output is impressive!
For the track Cruel Intentions they already invited last summer
to do a remix but in the end he did more and these are going to be released soon on Wichita, their label. The track is taken from their album Temporary Pleasure.
Check the Joker remixes they are a blast. also the free download of the last summer remix by Joker.

The Dreamerzzz on (Dunbar’s own) Future Times appeared in my collection a few months ago. I was intrigued by its beat programming, out of tune synths and a funk push that reminds me of Skweee. The opener Bare Feet has this utter optimistic feel. The use of this sticky melody line, the voice-samples and the beat sucks you into the song. It feels like a hip hop track done in a soul setting without the cliches by some stubborn dude who plays his own game. All the tracks on this first EP for RAMP are with this same feel. Wouldnt Matter could be like a lo-fi motown disco rip-off (Mimi Riperton comes in mind, WHY?). WAVs has a similar taste but it shifts a bit more towards early 80ies. Which brings me to the idea that this might shift towards lo-fi soul Skweee….

You might know that Lowriders inspiration comes from the T&B crew from New York. They deliver a nice one for the famous Scion series. Leader of the pack, Drop The Lime, takes cares of two massiv tracks, pure streetbass stylee. Hyper active wobble bassline. AC Slater’s funky horror rave stepper is a hugh floor killer, it takes you allll te way! The new kid on the block Mikix the Cat is a baslline killer! And this is just the A side the B-side starts with Howling (DTL) an 8bit pop slasher full of Arcade bites. Udachis’ Jellyroll is a freaky bass synth wobble extravaganza. Little Jinder goes mad with its sugar sweet candy disco. This record is bringing us the future of T&B!!! You need this…
