Strange fruit & Lowriders join forces

Bass, Soul, Beats, Funky, de ingrediënten voor de eerste collabo tussen de Strange Fruit crew & de Lowriders crew. Onder de naam Strange Riders organiseren deze twee eigenzinnige Rotterdamse organisaties in de Beat Burger op de Meent een nacht voor op de dansvloer.

Lowriders denken niet in muziekstijlen, hypes of iets wat daar op lijkt denkt. De voorkeur gaat uit naar bass en kwaliteit die te vinden is ergens tussen dubstep, beats, funky bass, grime en hip hop in. Deze avond zullen Beatnologic, Ruwedata en Off Hand vertegenwoordigen. Hovatron (live) is Canadees en maakt muziek die ergens ligt tussen crunk, skweee en hip hop.

De heren Thelonious en Lucky Dubz maken sinds 2005 als Strange Fruit Rotterdam onveilig ook hier staat kwaliteit en avontuur hoog in het vaandel of dat nu house, funk, soul, dubstep of uk funky is. Van Soulfull tot Rauw, hokjes komen niet in het woordenboek van de Strange Fruit Djs voor!
Dus block alle andere afspraken voor 2 juli, of neem ze mee naar de Meent voor een gezellig klein feestje!

The Lowriders ride again outside our home turf. Now we're going to battle our friends from
Trigga in Tilburg (NL). We're going to do this with some other gunman representing then is mentioned on the flyer.
Beatnologic has a gig in Turkey so he will be replaced by our Benjamin
Off Hand who has been practising for the last couple of months so ready for his national debut!! Beware, he just did a
mixtape so you can have an idea what to expect!

DMDN and
Just so Nah, Ghostryda. They invited
Bare Noize.
We bring along DJ
SDUK, you know from his mixtape for our blog and his marvelous debut on Slit Jockey. His tracks we're already for some time in the sets and mixtapes of people like
NastNasty and
Starkey and after his release on
Slitt Jockey his star has been rising. Check the mixtape he did for us and you have a clue how wild this is going to be!
We're going to rock the party with homies like

LowridersDropp events have a focus on the abstract beats/hip hop scene. We are treating ourselves and hopefully you on a dope line-up. After our first edition with names that has grown status wise since then (
1000names and
Debruit) we are going to treat you on some excellent producers:
Mwëslee and
Dynooo teaming up with our own
Coco Bryce and
Bluntspeakers.
Beatnologic will host the show as residential dj.
Mwëslee is from west coast Spain and you should know him from his releases on
Rush Hour: The first
Beat Dimensions with
Un Joder Suave and the
Megaplast EP for
Rush Hour's sub label
Nod Navigators. He just released the amazing
Eurocarne for
Nod Navigators which, if you haven't bought it yet, will blow you away! Read our review

Dynooo from Ghent, Belgium, was also on the first
Beat Dimensions as
Dyno with
Reign. After this track
Dynooo has been a busy man. Releasing tracks on a range of label amongst the compiler for
Citywurl alongside
LeftO, one of Belgium's 'other' leftfield hip hop producers.
Dynooo just released the already acclaimed
Gum Dragon EP with some amazing beat bangers on it... and some collab of our friends from Liege
Bretzel Zoo (aka
Herrmutt Lobby). He also runs a dope shop called
Mac Fly.
Next to these producers we also give room to two friends who are very busy also within the Lowriders parameters.
Coco Bryce has joined the ranks of the Lowriders team. Ever since his
Myor (his own label)
release with
Slugabed his star has been rising. Releases on
Harmonia, Error Broadcast, Astro:Dynamics and soon on
Lowriders Recordings and much more to come.
Coco Bryce moves gently between Skweee and abstract beats with a dj history in hip hop and tekno!
Bluntspeakers has also been close to the Lowriders family ever since his
LowridersDropp performance last year and is part of the BMU crew. This native Rotterdam producer moves also in between styles with the greatest ease. Hip hop beats for rappers, smooth R&B -ish candy and even some banging dubstep. He is gifted with a perfect ear and has the control over daring crooked beats. Released Alaska for
applejbreak He just started his digital label called Bluntsports which will focus on young talented producers!

Lowriders Collective schuimen de grenzen van genres af voor dikke feestjes in Rotterdam. Zo komen op de feestjes genres voorbij als dubstep, skweee, beats, streetbass, dancehall, hip hop maar ook rave, Baltimore, electro en muziekgenres die nog om een benaming vragen. Tijdens
Motel Mozaïque hosten de Lowriders de Watt Basement op zaterdag waar meteen een aantal persoonlijke favorieten zoals Dam Funk, vanwege zijn funky electro hip hop stijl; Daedelus is dé man zoals hij freakt op zijn mononon (Als je t ziet weet je eindelijk hoe dat ding heet!). Maar King Midas Sound is natuurlijk ook helemaal goed met hun grote-stad-blues gedragen door die betoverende stemmen, weliswaar geen feestmuziek maar diep is het zeker. Andere tips dan nog? Natuurlijk is er de grote zaal op zaterdag, maar dat zeggen wel liever niet want dan mis je Lowriders, waar alleseter GLK de boel zal ontregelen met een nog eclectischere mix.

It's been a while since we did a Lowriders at WORM. We just took some time to make it urgent again. Now we have a few reasons to start again: Lowriders Recordings, an extended team, and a collab with the WORMstudio. And the need to share more new music with you people, our audience!
Lowriders Recordings is our new addition to the output of the Lowriders Collective. The label will be entirely in the tradition of Lowriders: not a focus on style nor genre but on good, exciting music and of course everything will be released on vinyl (and digital).
The first EP will be from the talented
Ghost Mutt from Brighton, like
Slugabed (who also made a fearful remix for the 12"). We will publish more soon about the label on our blog. Ghost Mutt's sound is somewhere between dubstep and abstract beats. He plays live and spins records. and is also part of our friends of
Donky Pitch (like Slugabed and Boss Kite).

Bass Clef was already planning to visit Lowriders and WORM because of the
WORMstudio. He'll be working on invitation of Lowriders and WORM. Which will result in a release in the near future on
Lowriders Recordings. But first and again Bass Clef will be playing his wonderful energetic live set as we can remember from his previous performance at Lowriders.
Coco Bryce is into Skweee, dubstep and skewed hip hop beats. He released some impressive tracks on his own
MYOR (with
Slugabed, him again), the famous
Harmönia and soon
Astro:Dynamics.
Bluntspeakers is one of the most talented beat producers from Rotterdam. He will hopefully be releasing an EP on
Lowriders Recordings this year. He is also part of the
BeatmUp crew and took up djing recently again.
The DJ team is further complemented by the lowriders: CO2RO, RuweData and Beatnologic. The party is fancied up by our master of lights, the ever sparkling CO2RO.
Since the summer Lowriders expanded with 3 people: Yang together with SIMcommander focusing primarily on the the blog, Coco Bryce (who we already introduced) and HALP. The latter also blogging is producer and student AV design.
Lowriders are again hosting the basement at the
Bazar Curieux festival on December 5th in Rotterdam (Maassilo). Last year it was a blast. Together with Dj Gomes (Oi! Amsterdam) we challenged the big names in the two main halls with overwhelming success. This year it's going to be mad with and Rednas from
Ghettoblaster Soundsystem fame (a mate from Beatnologic) and mister Skweee: RANDY BARRACUDA. He'll be doing a live-set fully equipped, almost a studio setting!!! We've been writing a lot about Skweee and one of its frontmen so check the rest of the blog and you know you can't miss it.

Via het het Rotterdamse POP UP bumpte Lowriders uit Worm de Kruiskade op en belande zo in in het kloppende hart van poppodium Watt; de bassssssment.
De Lowriders (WORM) presenteren het laagste van het laagste met een mix van dubstep, booty, hiphop, electro, grime, dance-hall, dub, en breaks en zullen de kelder van de Kruiskade eens flink laten trillen!
NOAH D (Subway, S.C.U.M., Argon, US)
De Amerikaanse Noah D komt voor zijn "Hypnotic Elements" tour naar Nederland. Hij heeft eerder zijn sporen verdiend in de drum & bass scene. Nu ligt zijn focus op dubstep met de kale rauwe elementen die hun oorsprong vinden in drum & bass. Na de ‘hit’ Examination of Time (samen met Babylon System) op Argon gaat hij ernstig te keer met zijn laatste nummer "Seeeriousss".

COCO BRYCE (Myor, Harmonia, NL)
In de lijn van Rustie, Hudson Mohawke, Slugabed en bijvoorbeeld Randy Barracuda is er een energieke, niet aan hokjes vast zittende, scène aan het groeien waarbij avontuur hand in hand gaat met dansbaarheid. Coco Bryce heeft met drie, kort op elkaar volgende releases bewezen er bij te horen, de mix van hip hop, IDM, electro en abstracte beats is knisperend vers!! van Tic Toc en Ghettoblaster fame met een platentas variërend van Baltimore/ Baile funk & booty hits tot abstracte hiphop maar altijd in een vloeiende energieke mix.
RUWEDATA (Lowriders, Dstruct, NL)
Ruwedata, de vleesgeworden eclecticus. Binnen een set gaan we hard, diep, smooth en springend over de vloer en dat alles vanuit een tomeloze energie.
CO2RO (Lowriders, V.U.I.G.!, NL)
is de raver in de Lowriders stal en houdt van een stevig tempo, maar vooral van vuige no-skool bassen!
De aankleding is zoals altijd onder de bezielde leiding van onze huismeester van het lichtspektakel: Co2RO.

Raw Rhythm 31 Juli en 1 Augustus op het Westergasfabriek terrein in Amsterdam.
Raw Rhythm is de doorstart van het Drum Rhythm festival dat voor het laatst plaats vond in 2002. Wederom ligt de focus op (zwarte) dansmuziek (hip hop, dubstep, reggae, R&B, Soul enz enz). De grote diversiteit aan stijlen, de goede sfeer zijn altijd zeer bepalend geweest voor het festival. Zoals het er nu naar uit ziet gaat het weer ook behoorlijk mee werken zodat genieten tot de max mogelijk is!
Lowriders is in de programmering betrokken geweest en heeft met name op de zaterdag een stempeltje kunnen drukken op de programmering in de Westerliefde met vrienden zoals: Debruit, Fulgeance, Hovatron, Lunice. Maar op vrijdag staat ook een klein klupje vrienden: KidKanevil, DJ Gomes, 6Blocc!
De voorverkoop van het festival gaat erg hard hoorden we dus ben er snel bij. Speciaal voor de Lowriders volgers hebben we 2x2kaartjes te vergeven voor de zaterdagavond zodat je ons kan komen supporten!!!!
